One of the biggest problems that many people face when playing any kind of portable games console is how long the battery will last before it either needs replacing or recharging. However the PSP even though it comes with one of the most powerful operating systems to be found in a portable games console Sony have designed their batteries to live that little bit longer. The great thing about this particular console is that you can still play all your games even whilst the batteries are recharging.
As for the time it takes for the batteries to charge on average it will take around 2 hours before the batteries of the PSP have become fully charged once more. But another advantage to being able to play with this console whilst the batteries are being charged is that even when the batteries have been completely drained of power as soon as you plug it into a mains and begin recharging them you can play games on it once more.
A great feature to be found on the Sony PSP that is not to be found on any other kind of portable games console machine is that it allows you to play all kinds of music that you would be able to play on an MP3. However in order to be able to listen to your music properly it is best if you spend a little extra cash and invest in a good set of headphones rather than using the pair that came with the console. In fact more and more people who own a PSP rather than just playing games on theirs will also use it to play all their favorite songs on and won't need to invest further money into buying an MP3 player as well.
The Sony PSP just like the Nintendo DS comes with a wireless feature and this means that you can play against others without being sat right next to each other and the PSP's connected to one and other with a whole lot of wires. In fact this particular feature allows players to sit as much as a 100 feet away from each and still enjoy the game they are playing against each other. The other great benefit to be gained from this particular feature on the PSP is that it allows as many as 8 people to play the exact same game at the same time.
Along with some great features one of the biggest problems faced by a lot of gamers today is the amount of time it takes a game to load up on to their portable console. However this is where the PSP differs from other such games consoles because it comes with a facility called "sleep mode". So even if you need to leave the game alone for a while in order to do something else by pushing the "sleep mode" button and stops the PSP working so saving battery life. However as soon as you return to the PSP and then hit the sleep mode button once the console will continue to upload from the point where you left it at.
As long as you have the right memory stick then you are quite capable of playing MP4 formatted movies on your PSP. But in order to do this you need some software which enables you to convert the movies over to the right format. But although you can get some for free it is better if you purchase your converter to ensure that you don't down load unwanted files etc.
As you can see where the PSP is concerned compared to many other types of video games console there are major advantages to be had from owning one.
